2021

Academic Consultant
Amnesty International Netherlands,
Leiden University

As an academic consultant, I worked together with a team of International Studies students to examine the public, political, and media narratives that frame refugees as a threat or burden to Dutch society. We identified the main factors that constitute or reinforce such narratives and help make them “successful” - that is, widespread and commonly accepted as  true. The aim of this research was to help Amnesty International understand how they can utilize these factors to create positive narratives about refugees (and other vulnerable groups) to counter these negative ones and promote the human rights of refugees.
